How Far I'll Go
By Lin-Manuel Miranda
I've been staring at the edge of the water
'Long as I can remember, never really knowing why I wish I could be the perfect daughter But I come back to the water, no matter how hard I try Every turn I take, every trail I track Every path I make, every road leads back To the place I know, where I can not go, where I long to be. See the line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me And no one knows, how far it goes If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me One day I'll know, if I go there's just no telling how far I'll go. I know everybody on this island, seems so happy on this island Everything is by design I know everybody on this island has a role on this island So maybe I can roll with mine I can lead with pride, I can make us strong I'll be satisfied if I play along But the voice inside sings a different song What is wrong with me? See the light as it shines on the sea? It's blinding But no one knows, how deep it goes And it seems like it's calling out to me, so come find me And let me know, what's beyond that line, will I cross that line? The line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me And no one knows, how far it goes If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me One day I'll know, how far I'll go. |

Summer Fun
By Holdingford 5th Graders
Arranged by Kyle Gray Young
VERSE 1
There's a pole we lick. There's a cat with a tick. Kittens are fun. Dogs play in the sun. CHORUS This is a rhythm we like, We sing it when we bike, Listen to this great beat! (stomp, stomp, stomp) I play it with my feet! Guitar Solo BRIDGE Playing in the water is fun, When you're out in the summer sun. The summer breeze is pretty cool, When you're hanging out in the musical pool. The music will never end. One, two, ready go! CHORUS |
Students worked with songwriter Kyle Gray Young to compose their own fifth grade song. Each class wrote one verse of rhyming lyrics and students came up with a melody to go with those lyrics. Kyle then put each class's piece of the song together and added accompaniment to make it the song that you'll hear. This song is especially interesting with the melody of the bridge being quite different from the rest of the song.
Simple Gifts
Traditional
'Tis the gift to be simple
'Tis the gift to be free 'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be And when we find ourselves in the place just right Twill be in the valley of love and delight. When true simplicity is gained To bow and to bend, we will not be ashamed To turn, turn, will be our delight 'Til by turning, turning, we come round right |
