VERSE 1
He’s a dominating force that gets things done. You can hear him, but you’ll never see him run. They say he never gets bored cause he saves the world from discord. He can help you find your way back to the one. CHORUS He’ll help you find it. He’ll help you find it. He’ll bring you back to one. Agent Five Seven. His intervention can bring attention to get you back to one. Agent Five Seven. VERSE 2 He’s a dominating force that fights for good. And he never likes to be misunderstood. Well, he’s never caught a bad guy, and he never wears a black tie, but he can make the five chord sound the way it should. CHORUS x2 Agent Five Seven. Agent Five Seven. |
Agent V7 is a fun song inspired by 1960s spy shows with lyrics that demonstrate what fourth graders have learned about the most basic chord progression in Western music traditions. The lyrics of this tune are full of double-meanings of phrases that could describe a secret agent or the V7 chord. "He helps you find your way back to the one" refers to how the V7 chord is resolved by the I chord.
The I chord (one chord) sounds very comfortable and final. It is built on the home note of the key or scale of a song. The V7 chord (five-seven chord) is built on the fifth note of the scale and sounds incomplete and suspenseful. The V7 chord is usually resolved by moving to the I chord. Learning Objectives

This tune for recorders, like Agent V7, is in the style of 1960s spy shows. It uses the first three notes that students have learned on the instrument: B, A, and G. Students are very familiar with these notes, but the use of skips and a variety of rhythms adds some challenge.
