Anna Zeleny is a student at the college of Saint Benedict. When she is not dragging herself through hours of chemistry homework and copious amounts of coffee, she is happy to find solace in music. As a music minor Anna has taken classes on music theory, participated in a multitude of musical ensembles, and taken lessons with Maia Hamann, Bruce Thornton, and Laurie Mertz.
Anna’s main musical focus has been the bassoon, performing with the CSB/SJU Wind Ensemble, Amadeus Symphony Orchestra, St. Cloud Symphony, 2017 MMEA All-State Orchestra, Local Bocals bassoon trio, and attempting to convince every jazz band of the enchantment of the jazz bassoon. Although bassoon is her weapon of choice the electric bass has also yielded the immense potential of musical power. On the bass Anna has provided backbone in a number of jazz ensembles and jazz combos; she has also been an active band member in Fresh Milk, Vintage Sweater Day and Lessons from Chameleons. |
