"This is a great question. Yes, I can get very nervous when I play. When I get nervous, my hands start shaking. I had so much anxiety about my junior recital in college that I made a lot of mistakes. It took me many years to learn that nervousness or stage fright will always be a part of the way that I perform music, so I know that I have learn music extra well before I am ready to perform." -Br. "I drove through Holdingford a couple years ago with a monk who grew up there. He made sure to point out all of his favorite landmarks (mostly churches and cemeteries)!" -Br. Jacob Berns Mikey has been to Holdingford at least three times! He was a house leader in the 2017-2018 school year, too. He visited our school to teach students how to write music and practice a song that he wrote for them to perform on their spring concert. You can see pictures from the newspaper of Mikey visiting the school on our bulletin board by the door! "Great question! Saluting is called a "custom & courtesy" in the U.S. military. All military members salute the U.S. flag. Members of lower rank salute members of higher rank when in uniform outdoors and then the higher-ranking member returns the salute. This can get very confusing when you are walking with a group of people of various ranks. On flightlines and indoors, people do not salute except for special occasions. People who are not in the military usually do not salute people in uniform or the flag, but there is nothing wrong with showing respect in that way." -Shanti Simon Have you ever played the harp? Did you ever play the harp? Does Mandy (or you) have a harp?3/24/2023 "Thanks Chance! I haven't played harp in a performance, but two of my cousins play harp, so I've been able to play theirs a little bit just for fun. It's a very nice sounding and fun instrument! Sometimes when I play high notes on a bass guitar I feel like it sounds a little bit like a harp." "Thanks for the question Oliver! I played my cousin's harp a little bit, and sometimes I think my bass guitar sounds like a harp when I play up high" "Nope, but Mandy's aunt used to play harp, and I have a friend in Iowa that plays harp." -Mikey Maiorana

About the Question BoardThe Question Board is a whiteboard in the music classroom and/or an online form on which students can write any music-related questions they have. They can be questions that are unrelated to what we're doing in class, questions that I student prefers to ask anonymously, or questions for our house leaders. Follow this page to see the intriguing and wide variety of questions that students are asking! Archives
