"I'm having a hard time choosing between three, but for the sake of shining a light on the lesser known music, I'll go with "Will You Be There" from the "Free Willy" soundtrack. It's so uplifting and a good reminder for us all to care for those who are struggling or suffering around us. Also the ridiculous amount of key changes at the end of the song are a real joy. I got to sing a version of this song with my high school choir class, so it has personal significance too. My other two favorite MJ songs are "Thriller" and "Man in the Mirror". " -Kyle Lamb "I love Michael Jackson's music so much! I really love We Are the World -- but I feel like picking that epic song that he collaborated with Lionel Richie to write and got so many amazing huge talents to sing would just be cheating. For now I pick "Man In the Mirror", a great reminded that if you want to make a change, start with yourself!" -Dan Wheeler "This isn't my favorite Michael Jackson song, necessarily (though it's a great song) but I remember really thinking the music video was cool when I was a kid. So my suggestion would be Black or White. I also like the message." -Nicole Wilder "My brother. It's fun to just jam out together when we see each other. He usually plays the piano and I sing." -Kyle Lamb "Wow. Just like most of my other "favorites" questions this changes a lot for me. Right now? My son. He is an awesome jazz drummer (we are looking at colleges for him right now -- he is contact with several professors). He is also teaching himself bass (so he can swap in/help cover in one of the jazz bands he's in at school). Every time we play together he teaches me stuff and I get to teach him stuff too. It's awesome!" -Dan Wheeler |
About the Question BoardThe Question Board is a whiteboard in the music classroom and/or an online form on which students can write any music-related questions they have. They can be questions that are unrelated to what we're doing in class, questions that I student prefers to ask anonymously, or questions for our house leaders. Follow this page to see the intriguing and wide variety of questions that students are asking! Archives
